What We Do
The USAID PNG LGP is to engage with communities, local government, and the national government to pursue the following approaches to protect and reduce threats to PNG’s priority terrestrial, marine, and freshwater ecosystems:
- Strengthen institutional capacity (government and civil society) to support customary land and sea management
- Strengthen governance systems to provide accountability, transparency, and mechanisms for r edress in natural resource management to protect, restore, and enable customary land and sea
management. - Strengthen private sector engagement and alliances to improve the incentives for biodiversity conservation
- Improve local knowledge and capacity for site based management.
