Civil Society and Institutional Strengthening
Community based organizations (CBOs) in PNG consistently highlight a lack of a financial and management literacy as one of their main challenges. Therefore, Cardno and the LGP team commit to working with several CBOs in our target sites to enable their organizations to effectively develop and manage community based resource management projects. The program will provide guidance for CBOs on how to register as organizations and develop projects which align with national and provincial policies and conservation goals. The program will share resources to support institutional strengthening, such as tools for identifying needs and capacity gaps. Our Grants team will conduct capacity assessments for these CBOs and potential grantees and design tailored capacity strengthening curriculum to build skills in areas such as project management, administration, reporting, budget management, and fundraising.
