Small Grants Program

The USAID PNG Biodiversity Program Small Grants Program aims to complement the efforts of the LGP and W-GDP Programs’ NGO partners by enabling other stakeholders to actively partner in activities that contribute to achieving Program outcomes. Small grants will enable external partners to conduct linked activities in conservation, gender equity, and livelihoods activities. The grants program also strengthens the capacity of CBOs, women’s associations, entrepreneurs, and organizations to handle grants and establish new capabilities as they are mentored through the grants program by Cardno and implementing partners. A Small Grants Review Committee led by Cardno’s Director of Finance and Operations and Grants Manager will develop guidelines for timelines and sizes of grants, criteria for applicants, and protocols for grant program operation and oversight. We envision multiple grant solicitation cycles—one that begins in February 2021 for both programs and later rounds that will benefit from lessons learned in the first. The Request for Applications (RFA) will be open to any entity proposing activities in Program focus areas or other nationally-focused entities that have a focus on thematic areas, such as biodiversity conservation, women’s economic empowerment, governance, or livelihoods development (to name a few).
